Matthias Esch

Matthias Esch is one of the most versatile hosts and reporters in German-speaking sport and live events. Raised with a passion for football, he has channelled that fire into an impressive media career – from local radio to the Champions League.

After studying political science in Marburg and completing a traineeship at Antenne Düsseldorf, his path led him via media agency Spotting Image to ARD Sportschau, where he has worked since 2022 as a TV reporter on “Zeiglers wunderbare Welt des Fußballs.” Since 2023 he has been reporting live from Champions League stadiums as a field reporter for DAZN – with his own show on the pay-TV channel.

As an event host and podcast presenter, Matthias combines journalistic precision with genuine entertainment value. He has led major podcast projects for OMR and Borussia Dortmund.
